RANTS FROM OBLIVION

My desire now is to promote the blues/soul/rock/fusion band I have in order to get gigs but mostly it's to work toward performing our own music. I've written jazz, blues, reggae, rock, fusion and country music for crissakes, and cant wait to include these songs in our repertoire (especially the fusion). I believe that doing your own material creates the freedom from the constraints of having to conceptualize yourself as someone else. Your brain/soul is one step closer to the reality of the expression. Consequently, by developing the habit of playing closer to the flame, that freedom defines the band's style - there's no imitation of anyone other than yourself. And that translates into free music.
