FINALLY BOUGHT A HOUSE!!
It took 3 years less than I thought it would - I'd figured it would take 5 years to save the $$$ up - but a lot longer than I would have dreamed when I sold my house almost 10 years to the day of closing. A brick duplex 11 years old, 3200 sq feet, 2 single garages, and just a short trip across the lake from New Orleans. Its killin me to let my apartment go - its in such an unbelievable location, but Boo and I figured we can get a studio or 1 bedroom to rent in the Quarter for probably 500 a month less than what I'm paying now.
I'm so wiped out from all the unending aggravation associated with buying a house - doing taxes - paying taxes, paperwork out the ear, then painting the interior walls and my favorite annoyance of all, freakin moving. But I am loving being involved in putting my time and energy into MY OWN HOME. I never could stand renting/boarding. Its too inhibiting feeling that you're just not going to bear the fruits of your own labors - kinda like washing someone elses car.
I painted the walls dark purple and gray so the blonde wood will stand nice against the purple and the black couch nice against the gray. I'm gonna finish moving in 4/4/09 so I'll have pictures at that point to show. And then I'm gonna take a serious break. I've been going non stop for a coupla months. Bought 2 antique 150 year old cypress mantels for $175. I'm gonna strip one and put it in the living room.
